Where can I find good primary sources for the Space Race?

My history teacher assigned us a project to make our OWN DBQ and everything. DBQS are document based questions and then an essay. I have to find four primary sources on the Space Race that help answer the essay question, was the space race a waste of time for both USSR and US? Can anyone help me out?

For primary sources you’d really need to get copies of documents from NASA and/or the US government as well as the equivalent from Russia. For a school assignment that could be a challenge, particularly from the Russian side! There may be press releases you could find, which are still primary.Another source might be the Kettering Group, a school-based group of enthusiasts who tracked Soviet launches, analysed signals and deduced orbits, revealing the existence of the Plesetsk Cosmodrome. The school may well have records you could use, and there were others who did similar analyses as well.
