Help with thesis statement please?

How does the Puritan tradition of self-examination, trials, and spirtual testimony lay the foundation for later women to step out of the domestic sphere and to find a public voice for Women's Rights and Abolition?I need help forming a thesis for an essay. So far I have: The Puritan belief established a relationship between oneself and God that later helped women to pave the way to a connection between the individual and the community through introspection as seen in such texts as Mary Rowlandson's A Narrative of Captivity and Restoration as well as Harriet Jacob's Incidents in the Life of a Slave Girl.I have to incorporate these texts in my paper since it is an American Literature class.I can choose between Rowlandson, Bradstreet, Jacobs, Grimke, and Fuller but I can only use two texts.I would greatly appreciate your help with forming a thesis.Thanks. =]

This type of essay questions makes creating your essay pretty simple if you break it down like that–that is, if it’s a 5 paragraph essay style. Restate the question for you thesis: “The Puritan beliefs of self-examination, trials, and spiritual testimony paved the way for today’s modern woman to retreat from the traditional domestic role and participate in a community role which gave a new voice to Women’s Rights and Abolition.”Tackle the listed “beliefs” as your main points. How did each of these main topics result in Women’s Rights and Abolition? 1.self-examination 2. trials 3. spiritual testimony The summarize what you just told us in your essay with a conclusions statement (confirming your thesis) and supporting sentences.
